This easy avocado chocolate mousse recipe calls for a handful of simple ingredients, you probably have everything at home. I have included precise quantities in the recipe card down below, but for the moment here are some details.
- Avocado. You’ll need 2 ripe avocados of medium size, I recommend Hass avocados. To check for the best level of ripeness, gently press the fruits with your fingers. The ideal avocados are slightly soft to the touch and green inside. But not too soft, or they may be rotten.
- Greek yogurt. The yogurt will give avocado pudding the classic texture of chocolate mousse. Rich, velvety and super creamy. For the best result I recommend 5% Greek yogurt, but you can also use low fat options. Replace with soy yogurt, coconut yogurt or coconut cream, if you follow a vegan diet.
- Cocoa powder. Use unsweetened cocoa powder, so it is healthier. You can easily replace it with raw cocoa powder, cacao powder or Dutch cocoa powder.
- Maple syrup. Pure maple syrup sweetens the avocado chocolate mousse without the need for refined sugar. Replace with honey, agave syrup, date syrup, or sugar-free syrup for a keto mousse.
- Vanilla extract and salt. Vanilla extract enhances the tastes, while a pinch of salt balances sweetness and brings out all the flavors.
