How long to microwave sweet potato whole?

Cooking medium sweet potato in the microwave requires about 5 minutes, 3 minutes on one side and 2 to 3 minutes on the other side. If you microwave small sweet potato, cooking time will be less. And if you microwave large sweet potato, cooking time will be more.

Is the skin crispy?

When you cook a sweet potato in the microwave, it is steamed from the inside out, which doesn’t allow the skin to crisp up as it would in an oven. The skin won’t be as crisp as if it was baked, but at the same time it will also not be as soft as if you were to boil it.

Can I microwave 2 sweet potatoes at once?

The best way to cook a sweet potato in the microwave is cooking one at the time. This ensures it cooks through and does not remain hard in some parts. If you want to make more, I recommend microwaving in batches.
