Looking for easy healthy snacks to fight the summer heat? Go and grab some bananas, today we're making healthy Snickers bars. Together with blueberry yogurt clusters (and the cookie croissant for my girlfriend), they are one of our favorite TikTok viral summer recipes. They're sweet and peanut buttery, with a salty kick that will hook you at first bite. Honestly, they taste like real Snickers, but made at home with clean ingredients. No sugar, no trans fat, no flour and plenty of flavor.
Clear some space in the freezer, because this summer you're gonna make frozen banana Snickers on repeat!
Why banana Snickers are the best summer snack
- Healthy & diet friendly. There's so much to say about the health benefits of those frozen bars. They're sugar-free, dairy-free, gluten-free, flourless and completely vegan. Further, each bar comes with just about 150 calories.
- Quick & easy recipe. Making Snickers from banana is so easy. Cut a banana into 4 parts, top with peanut butter, peanuts and melted chocolate, then freeze. This is a recipe that anyone can make, in under 10 minutes.
- Sweet & tasty. Have a bite and you won't ever believe that these banana Snickers are actually healthy. With salty peanut butter over sweet chocolate covered bananas, they taste like real candy bars. A crowd pleaser, from kids to adults, everyone will love these healthy frozen bars.
- Customizable recipe. Add some date caramel sauce, swap out peanut butter for almond butter, or change up the chocolate. There are some many ways how this banana snickers recipe can be personalized.
Recipe ingredients
- Banana. This recipe requires medium ripe bananas. While green, unripe bananas won't be sweet enough, overripe bananas are too soft. We're going to use the fruit as a base for guilt-free snickers.
- Peanut butter. I recommend creamy natural peanut butter, unsalted, sugar-free and oil-free. You can use crunchy or salted peanut butter, in this case you won't need any extra salt. Peanut butter can be replaced with almond butter or cashew butter.
- Chopped peanuts. Small prices of peanuts add crunchiness and taste. Feel free to use raw or roasted peanuts, salted or unsalted.
- Melted chocolate. These frozen banana snickers are coated with extra dark chocolate chips, melted with a ¼ teaspoon of coconut oil. Oil facilitates the melting process. Lindt is my favorite, but you can choose any chocolate you like.
- Sea salt. A pinch of salt gives frozen banana bars the salted caramel taste of Snickers. Omit if using salted peanut butter and/or salted chopped peanuts.
How to make banana snickers
- Peel the bananas, then cut it in half lengthwise. Divide the halves into 2 parts each, in total you will get 8 banana slices with a long, flat section. Place over a parchment paper covered baking sheet.
- Spread peanut butter on top of each banana slice, making sure to cover it completely. Sprinkle the top with a pinch of salt and chopped peanuts.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, add chocolate and coconut oil. Place in the microwave to melt in 30 second intervals until smooth. Drizzle melted chocolate over the peanut butter banana slices and freeze on the baking sheet for at least 1 hour, or until the chocolate has hardened.

Recipe variations
- Swap out peanut butter - Try replacing creamy peanut butter with almond butter, cashew butter, sunflower seed butter or tahini for an allergy-friendly nut-free recipe.
- Add caramel sauce - If you have a crazy sweet tooth, consider spreading some date caramel sauce on top of the peanut butter. Right before coating with melted chocolate.
- Experiment with toppings - Take your frozen banana snickers to the next level by topping them with dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds, chopped nuts, or pecans. You'll love the extra crunch.
- Change chocolate - Make the snickers coating with sugar-free chocolate, milk chocolate, or even white chocolate chips. I like mine with extra dark chocolate.
- Make Snickers bites - Instead of slicing lengthwise, cut bananas into round slices. Top with peanut butter, chopped peanuts and a drizzle of chocolate to make frozen Snickers bites.
Success tips
- I recommend making frozen Snickers with medium ripe bananas. They're sweet and flavorful, but not as soft as ripe bananas. So they'll hold their shape.
- Customize this recipe to your likings. You can combine almond butter with chopped almonds, add sugar-free caramel sauce, or use another type of chocolate.
- Double or triple this recipe and make multiple batches of banana Snickers. So that when the cravings hit, you just need to open the freeze and grab a healthy peanut butter bar.
- Serve cold, especially on a hot summer day. The frozen banana tends to soften when it is exposed to hot temperatures, and your healthy Snickers bars may thaw and lose their texture.
How to store frozen banana snickers?
First, you will need to freeze the chocolate covered peanut butter banana slices on a baking sheet. This ensures that the chocolate hardens without spilling.
Once they are frozen and the chocolate has hardened, transfer banana Snickers from the baking sheet into an airtight container and freeze. If properly stored, they can last for up to two months. When you're ready to enjoy them, take them out from the freezer and enjoy right away for the best experience.
