These flourless Greek yogurt brownies are the ultimate healthy dessert. Made with just 4 ingredients, this yogurt protein brownie recipe is also incredibly easy to make. Are you ready to learn how to make low calorie, high protein and delicious brownies with Greek yogurt?
Fudgy, chocolatey flourless brownies are so decadent that you’ll never guess they are actually healthy, high protein, low in carbs and low calories. Legit the best healthy brownies ever.
When I say that this is one of the best recipes I’ve ever made, I mean it. Easy, healthy and so delicious…The moment these brownies came out of the oven, I couldn’t keep my enthusiast and almost got emotional. Funny that I came up with this flourless Greek yogurt brownie recipe almost by chance. I was about to add oat flour, when I realized that the cocoa powder was more than enough to give my brownie batter a good, rich texture. So I decided to experiment and baked that simple batter. Greek yogurt, egg, cocoa powder, sweetener and nothing more!
The ingredients for Greek yogurt brownies
You will love how simple this flourless brownie recipe is. You just need four basic ingredients that you probably already have at home. Keep on reading for all details and substitutes!
- Greek yogurt. This flourless brownie recipe can be prepared with both low-fat and full-fat Greek yogurt. As an alternative you can use Skyr, quark or a firm plant based yogurt of your choice.
- Cocoa powder. For healthy brownies, I recommend using natural cocoa powder without added sugars.
- Granular sweetener: This recipe uses erythritol as a calorie-free and sugar-free option. Feel free to replace with any granular sweetener you like, such as coconut sugar or brown sugar.
- Egg. This ingredient is a must to add taste and give your brownies their irresistibly fudgy texture. Although I do not recommend it, for Greek yogurt brownies that are even lower in calories you can replace one whole egg with about 60 ml (1/4 cup) of egg whites. The result, however, won’t be exactly the same.
As mentioned before, the basic recipe for flourless Greek yogurt brownies calls for four ingredients only. However, you are free to add some extras and customize the brownies to your liking. Here are some ideas for you:
- Coffee powder. It is just a hint, but the coffee powder will bring your low calorie brownies to another level!
- Pinch of salt. This will enhance the taste and balance sweetness.
- Vanilla extract. Make sure to add vanilla for brownies that are more flavorsome.
- Chocolate chips. You can add chocolate chips in the batter, on the top of your flourless brownies or do both. With chocolate you can’t go wrong!
- Nuts: Stir in your favorite nuts for a crunchy brownie experience!
Dairy-free brownies with no flour
Making a dairy-free brownie with no flour is as simple as replacing Greek yogurt with a plant based alternative of your choice. Feel free to utilize your favorite nondairy yogurt. As long as it has a firm, thick texture it should be fine. My recommendations are firm soy yogurt and coconut yogurt.
How to make Greek yogurt brownies with no flour
Making low calorie yogurt brownies is incredibly quick and easy. You will love that this recipe comes together in a bowl, in minutes – without the need for special baking skills!
Step 1: Make the brownie batter. In a bowl, mix Greek yogurt together with the egg, cocoa powder and granular sweetener. Stir until all ingredients are well combined and you get a smooth batter.
Step 2. Transfer the Greek yogurt brownie batter to your prepared brownie pan, and optionally sprinkle with chocolate chips on top. Finally, bake in hot oven for 22 to 30 minutes – mine took 25 minutes. Be sure to let them cool completely at room temperature before slicing.
How to store Greek yogurt brownies
After baking, let these flourless brownies cool at room temperature. Once they have cooled, place in a sealable airtight food container and store in the fridge for up to 4 days.
In case you need to store them for longer, freeze these flourless Greek yogurt brownies in an airtight food container or in a freezer zipping bag for up to 3 months. Before serving, reheat in hot oven for a couple of minutes.

If you double the recipe, what size pan would you use?
Hey dear Sharyn
thanks for your comment! If you double the recipe, you have two options: either using two baking pans 15 cm x 15 cm (7 inch x 7 inch) in size, or you can use a 30 cm x 30 cm (14 in x 14 in) baking pan.
I hope I could help you,
Matteo
I tried this in desperation, looking for something to satisfy my chocolate cravings without being super unhealthy, and this was a pleasant surprise.
If you want crunchy edges and a crackle crust, this isnโt the recipe for you. But if you want that dense, fudgy interior, almost like a truffle, these are it.
In fact, Iโd say they are more like a truffle than a brownie. I paired some of them with slices of roasted and salted kumquats on top, and they were delicious. I will experiment with more toppings, like maybe walnuts or cranberries.
I used regular sugar as I didnโt have erythritol, but next time Iโll try agave syrup, or maybe homemade date syrup. My Greek yogurt was Costcoโs organic fat-free version. I also substituted 10 g of the regular cocoa with black cocoa, and was generous with the instant espresso powder. My brownie pan is 8โx8โ so they were a bit thin, but were chocolatey and rich! Just a small piece satisfied my craving, but they were so good, I went well beyond one piece! ?
Hey dear Jenna,
thank you very much for your kind feedback. I’m incredibly glad to hear that you liked these healthy brownies with Greek yogurt. They’re definitely the perfect treat to satisfy all those chocolate cravings without guilt. And good decision for the coffee powder, it gives the brownies a unique flavor.
Have a great day,
Matteo
Hi Matteo,
Can I use regular sugar?
Thanks,
Christian
Hey Christian,
yes, indeed you can! Any kind of granulated sweetener or sugar will work.
I hope I could help!
Have a great day,
Matteo
Do you think this could work with flax egg? I do have eggs, but I’ve also got a pile of ground flax that needs using up ?
Hey dear Dan,
I have tried it once with flax eggs, but unfortunately the result was not the very best. If you have and can eat normal eggs, I suggest using eggs! And you can always try some of my other recipes with your flaxseed egg!
I hope I could help you.
Have a great day,
Matteo
Thanks Matteo! I’ll save the flax for something else ๐
Amazing! That’s a great idea ๐
Hi Matteo ,
This recipe looks great and I’m going to try it this afternoon (adding a bit of espresso powder & splash of vanilla). I realize the nutrition breakdown is auto calculated, but am I correct that the approx calorie count is per serving?
Thanks!
Hey dear Nancy,
first of all thanks a lot for the comment! Regarding your question, yes. The nutritional values are provided for one individual serving.
I truly hope that youโre gonna like this recipe. Please, let me know about the resultโบ๏ธ!
Best regards,
Matteo
Hi! Is this batter supposed to be quite thick? It’s baking in the oven now but it was a little hard to transfer, but it looks good! xoxo
Hey dear Lisa,
thanks for your comment. The batter is supposed to have the same texture of a normal brownie batter. So yes, it should be thick, but not too thick. In case it is too thick you can adjust with more yogurt, when mixing the batter.
I hope this helps.
Have a great day,
Matteo
