How to make air fryer hard boiled eggs?

  1. Get ready. Preheat the air fryer to 250°F (120°C). If the minimum temperature of your machine is 300°F (150°F), preheat to 300°F. We are going to adjust cooking time later.
  2. Air fry. Place eggs in the air fryer basket, in a single layer, and cook 12 minutes for a softer texture to 16 minutes for a firmer inside. Adjust the cooking time according to your air fryer, some are more powerful. In case your machine only goes down to 300°F, cook for 9 – 12 minutes.
  3. Let cool. Once “boiled”, transfer the eggs to an ice water bath so that they cool faster. This procedure stops the cooking and ensures that eggs will peel easily.

Success tips

  • Use high quality fresh eggs. I always try to choose organic eggs from free range chickens, even better if they come from the local farmers. They will have a much richer flavor.
  • Adjust cooking time to your needs and preferences. This airfryer hard boiled eggs recipe call for 12 to 16 minutes, the more they cook, the firmer. But keep in mind that different air fryer brands have different powers, so play around and adjust cooking time if it is necessary.
  • Place into an ice bath once cooked. After hard boiling eggs in air fryer, plunge them right into a small basket or bowl of cold water and ice cubes. The cold temperature prevents eggs from cooking further and facilitates peeling.
  • Test with one egg first. If it is your first time, I recommend starting with just one egg. Use it as an experiment to check what’s the perfect cooking time for your own air fryer.
  • Air fry eggs in batches. You can cook as many eggs as they fit in the basket of your air fryer. Prepare in bulk and store them in the fridge for your weekly meal prep.

Serving ideas

  • Egg salad sandwich. Chop hard boiled eggs and mix with mayonnaise, mustard, chopped celery, salt, and pepper. Spread the mixture between slices of bread or use as a filling for wraps. Replace mayo with avocado and you’ll get avocado egg salad.
  • Avocado toast. Mash some avocado, spread over a slice of bread, then top with an halved egg and smoked salmon if you want. I recommend sourdough bread, or my oat bread. Enjoy drizzled with olive oil and a sprinkle of salt or bagel seasoning on top.
  • Mixed salad. Add the eggs into a lettuce and tomato salad alongside olives, tuna, chicken breast or mozzarella if you like. Drizzle with a healthy yogurt dressing, some olive oil and enjoy.
  • Deviled eggs potato salad. Use these eggs to make my deviled egg potato salad recipe. It’s rich and creamy, perfect for family gatherings, picnics and barbecues.
  • Ramen noodle soup. Slice air fried eggs in half and add them to a bowl of hot ramen noodles along with sliced scallions and mushrooms. The creamy yolk will make your dish so satisfying.

One of the best things about eggs is that they are so versatile. Serve right after air frying, or keep for later. To store air fryer hard boiled eggs, you will first need to let them cool completely.
