Trying the viral Crookie

This is a rather different recipe than my usual. I know it. But I am a real foodie with a passion for cookies and croissants, so I couldn’t resist. My girlfriend was scrolling through TikTok when she saw a new viral recipe. Cookie Croissants, aka croissants stuffed with chocolate chip cookie dough. We HAD to try them, period. So we went to the supermarket and got all it’s needed: croissants and premade cookie dough. They were baked in the blink of an eye. Never had something that good, I had to share this recipe with you.

The easy cookie dough croissant from TikTok is not actually from TikTok. This recipe originated in a small bakery from Paris, called Maison Louvard. “Croissant pur beurre garnit d’une généreuse pâte à cookie mi-cuite”, that is how the bakery launched its new product. For those who don’t speak French, the new launch is nothing but a buttery croissant mixed with cookie dough inside and on top.

If you are lucky enough to fly to Paris, you can get the original Le Crookie for 7.10 €. Or 5.90€, in case you order it for take away. It may seem a lot, but trust me, it’s worth the price. These croissant cookies are so rich and indulgent that you won’t regret a single cent.

Not visiting Paris any soon? Try my 2 ingredient cookie dough croissant recipe. Requiring just croissant and chocolate chip cookie dough, making the viral cookie croissant at home has never been that easy!

Viral Cookie Croissant

This easy cookie croissant recipe only calls for two ingredients: croissants and cookie dough. You can get everything from the grocery store, or from a local bakery if you’re looking for higher quality. Here are some more details:

  • Croissants. You’ll need 6 butter croissants, without fillings such as jam or cream. The filling is gonna be chocolate chip cookie dough. You can get packaged croissants from the grocery store or from a bakery, I recommend bakery style croissants because they taste better.
  • Chocolate chip cookie dough. This easy Crookie recipe uses pre-made cookie dough, the one that is sold in packages. I stuffed my croissants with Sweet Loren’s cookie dough, it is healthier and made with cleaner ingredients. But any other brand such as Pillsbury cookie dough works. As an alternative you can also make your own cookie dough at home.

Making the viral cookie croissant from Paris at home is incredibly quick and easy. You just need to grab some empty croissants, slice them, and stuff with cookie dough. Bake and you’ll be amazed at the result! Read further for the complete recipe directions:

  1. Preheat oven or air fryer. Homemade crookies can be baked either in the oven or in the air fryer, depending on your own preferences. The temperature is gonna be slightly different, 350°F (180°F) for oven and 320°F (160°C) for air fryer.
  2. Stuff croissant with cookie dough. Slice each butter croissant into two halves, then fill with about 2 to 3 pieces of cookie dough inside. Close and top some more cookie dough.
  3. Bake cookie croissants. Line your viral Crookies over a parchment paper covered baking sheet, spacing them apart. Bake in hot oven for 8 to 12 minutes.

Helpful tips

  • Use bakery croissants, they have a better taste and will make your crookie experience unforgettable.
  • Make cookie dough at home, in case you can’t find the pre made cookie dough that comes in packages.
  • Bake croissants with cookie dough 8 minutes for a gooey center, or about 12 minutes for a more cooked inside.
  • Serve warm for the best experience. Flaky and crispy outside, gooey and warm inside.

If you like chocolate chip cookies and croissants, this recipe is for you. Homemade French crookies taste delicious on their own, or paired with something else. Here are some serving ideas:

  • Enjoy chocolate chip cookie croissants with a glass of milk, dipped or on the side.
  • Serve with a cup of tea or freshly brewed coffee for an indulgent dessert.
  • Summer is around the corner, enjoy with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!
  • Eat it alone as it is, preferably right after baking when it’s still warm and gooey inside.

Can you make cookie croissant with Ben & Jerry’s cookie dough ice cream?

No, the TikTok viral croissant cannot be filled with cookie dough ice cream because the ice cream would melt and make a mess. You’ll need to get either packaged cookie dough, or make it at home.

How does a Crookie taste like?

Chocolate chip cookie dough stuffed in croissant – Warm and gooey inside, flakey and crispy on the outside. That’s how I would describe the taste of a Crookie in a very simple sentence.

How to make vegan Crookie?

For a vegan recipe, replace butter croissant with margarine croissant and use vegan cookie dough.
