Servings: 4 servings
- 2 cups milk dairy or dairy-free
- ½ cup (5.3 oz) strawberries fresh or frozen, hulled and chopped
- 3 to 4 tbsp granulated sugar or sugar-free sweetener
- ¼ cup water
Wash strawberries, remove the green stems and chop in small dices. Place in a bowl and set aside. If you are using frozen strawberries, thaw them in the fridge ahead of time.
Add chopped strawberries to a pot together with sugar and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent strawberries from burning.
With the help of a fine mesh strainer, strain the strawberry syrup into a small bowl. Set the pieces of fruit aside. Let the syrup cool for about 5 minutes.
Pour the strawberry syrup into the milk, whisk well until smooth.
