Iced Matcha Latte

This easy Iced Matcha Latte recipe makes a rich and creamy drink at home, better than from Starbucks. A healthy alternative to coffee, matcha latte is perfect in the morning or as an afternoon pick-me-up.

Equipment

  • bamboo whisk you can use a blender or an electric coffee mixer

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp matcha green tea powder
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) hot water
  • ¾ cup (180 ml) milk of choice divided
  • maple syrup or honey to taste
  • tsp vanilla extract optional
  • ice cubes

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, place a teaspoon of matcha powder and hot water. Whisk well, using a bamboo whisk (or an electric coffee mixer), until the matcha has fully dissolved into the liquid. There should be no lumps left.
  • Pour into the matcha mixture ⅓ cup of the milk alongside maple syrup and vanilla extract (optional). Whisk to combine, adjusting with more sweetener if it is necessary.
  • Before serving, add to a glass a couple of ice cubes and the remaining milk, then pour in the matcha drink. Give it a good mix and enjoy.

How to make iced matcha latte without bamboo whisk

  • Place matcha powder and hot water into a small blender and blend on low until combined. Add ⅓ cup of milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract (optional), and blend once more. Serve in a glass with ice cubes and cold milk.
