Caprese Salad

Ingredients

  • 3 medium heirloom tomatoes
  • 7 oz (220 g) fresh mozzarella
  • fresh basil leaves
  • ½ to 1 tbsp olive oil
  • a drizzle of balsamic vinegar or balsamic glaze
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Wash tomatoes, then cut into slices. Slice mozzarella lengthwise. Both tomato and mozzarella slices should be about ¼ inches thick.
  • On a large plate, arrange the slices of tomato and mozzarella alternately, overlapping them slightly in a circular pattern. Top with fresh basil leaves.
  • Drizzle olive oil and balsamic vinegar on top of the Caprese, then season with a sprinkle of salt and freshly ground black pepper. Serve immediately.
