Caprese Salad

- 3 medium heirloom tomatoes
- 7 oz (220 g) fresh mozzarella
- fresh basil leaves
- ½ to 1 tbsp olive oil
- a drizzle of balsamic vinegar or balsamic glaze
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
Wash tomatoes, then cut into slices. Slice mozzarella lengthwise. Both tomato and mozzarella slices should be about ¼ inches thick.
On a large plate, arrange the slices of tomato and mozzarella alternately, overlapping them slightly in a circular pattern. Top with fresh basil leaves.
Drizzle olive oil and balsamic vinegar on top of the Caprese, then season with a sprinkle of salt and freshly ground black pepper. Serve immediately.
